You're right the simp accusation usually follows, but I'd say "not simping just don't be toxic" and then try to deflect focus back on the game. 2 is easier for guys, because we're not the ones being made fun of. The stigma's shit, and about all we can do about it as league players is to 1. But it is bad for girls who get into league: they're pushed to support and given enchanters in part because of the stereotype, and then they're teased for doing that and teased when they try to learn other things. If anything, it benefits me to subvert it. Fortunately, skilled enchanters can shut down engage tanks effectively, and win trades.Īs a dude, the e-girl champ stigma doesn't affect me. Enchanter supports have fallen out of the "meta" in favor of engage tanks. Meanwhile, some support players won't play them because it doesn't give them the kind of agency they want from the role (they enable and empower a good ADC, but cannot replace a bad one).Įnchanters have been nerfed pretty hard by riot over the years, to my chagrin, and that power has been put into items (to the point that solo laners build enchanter items). Because of this, people will disparage enchanters because they don't conform to the same kind of highly-visible game impact that they expect. Well-timed shields and disruption CC can absolutely win a skirmish, but it's less apparent. How do others deal with this? How do y’all feel about the “e-girl champ” stigma?Įnchanter supports tend to be less flashy and direct than the engage tanks or damage supports. I just hate the stigma female supports are bad or being carried. I’ve been working on learning more of a tank/disengage support and it’s hard to transition from being squishy to being a tank so I still play me “e-girl” supports a lot because they are easier for me to play. When a male support main plays “e-girl” champs they are seen as just a good support and nothing more. While they have never said anything to me it still kind of upsets me. When I play with a different group of friends they make fun of the “e-girl” who is a support main because she only plays things like lux and needs her team to do anything. I started with nami and loved it so my friends who were teaching me recommended other supports that are her play style like lulu and janna. I started playing league about 6 months ago. I just wanted to see what other supports thought about the stigma of being an e-girl support.
